Privacy Policy

Effective date: 14 October 2026

The short version

  • No account, nothing leaves your phone. By default, your location, settings, prayer tracker and bookmarks stay on your device.
  • An account is optional and only needed for groups. If you sign in, the prayers you mark each day and your streak are synced so your groups can see them.
  • Your groups see a limited view: your display name, your current streak, your prayers for the last 7 days, your activity entries and your reactions. Never the times you prayed, never your location.
  • No ads, no selling of personal data, no third-party analytics or tracking.
  • You can delete your account and everything synced for it from inside the app.

1. Who we are

Zikrah is an independent iOS app for prayer times, prayer tracking, Qibla direction, Quran and adhkar. In this policy, "Zikrah", "we" and "us" mean the team that operates the app. This policy explains what information the app and this website handle, and what happens to it.

Questions about privacy can be sent to azancast@gmail.com.

2. Using Zikrah without an account

You do not need an account to use Zikrah. This is the default, and in this mode everything stays on your device.

Location
If you allow it, your location is used on your device to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction, and to show the name of your city. It is not sent to Zikrah's servers.
Prayer tracker
Which of the five prayers you marked each day is stored on your device.
Settings, Quran bookmarks and notification preferences
Stored on your device.
Notifications
Prayer and reminder notifications are scheduled locally on your device.

The app does download some content from third parties, such as Quran text and audio. See Service providers and third parties.

3. If you create an account

An account is optional. You only need one if you choose to use groups, and you create it by choosing "Sign in with Apple".

What we receive when you sign in

  • An Apple account identifier, which lets us recognise your account when you sign in again.
  • The name you choose to show to others (your display name).

We do not request your email address.

What is synced to our database while you are signed in

  • Your display name.
  • The prayers you mark each day: which of the five, for each calendar day. This does not include the time you prayed, and it does not include your location.
  • Your current streak and your best streak.
  • The groups you are a member of.
  • The group challenges you take part in.
  • Your reactions in a group's activity feed.
  • Any reports or blocks you file against other members.

What we use it for

We use this information to run groups: to show group members each other's progress, to run challenges and the activity feed, and to review reports and keep groups safe. We do not use it for advertising.

4. Who can see what

Members of a group you are in can see

  • Your display name.
  • Your current streak.
  • Your prayers for the last 7 days.
  • Your activity entries, for example "prayed all 5", milestones, joining a group and challenges.
  • Your reactions.

Members of your groups cannot see

  • Your history older than the last 7 days.
  • The times you prayed.
  • Your location.

People outside your groups

People who are not in a group with you see nothing.

5. Religious information

Prayer activity can reveal religious belief, which many laws treat as sensitive information. Zikrah only shares your prayer activity with the groups you choose to join. If you do not sign in and join a group, your prayer activity is not shared with anyone and stays on your device.

6. Service providers and third parties

Providers that handle account data

Supabase
Hosts the database and the sign-in service for accounts and groups. The synced data listed in section 3 is stored there.
Apple
Provides Sign in with Apple, which is how you sign in.

Content the app fetches from third parties

The app downloads some content directly from third-party services. As with any web request, those services will see your device's IP address. This happens whether or not you have an account.

Quran text, translations and audio
alquran.cloud, quran.com, cdn.islamic.network, files.quran.app
The 99 Names and featured charity campaigns
ummahapi.com
Fonts
Google Fonts

These services have their own privacy policies, and we do not control how they handle the requests they receive.

7. Charity campaigns

The app may show a featured LaunchGood campaign and a weekly Friday reminder about it. You can turn the reminder off in Notification settings.

Tapping a campaign opens LaunchGood in your browser. Zikrah does not process donations and does not receive your payment information. Anything you do on LaunchGood is covered by LaunchGood's own terms and privacy policy.

8. What we do not do

  • We do not show ads.
  • We do not sell personal data.
  • We do not use third-party analytics or tracking.

9. Keeping and deleting your data

Deleting your account
In the app, go to Settings > Account > Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and everything synced for it: your profile, your synced prayer logs, your group memberships, your reactions and your block list. Reports you filed are kept so they can still be reviewed, but they are no longer linked to you.
Data on your phone
Tracker data stored on your phone stays there until you delete the app.
Leaving a group
Leaving a group removes you from it. A group is deleted when its last member leaves.

Synced data is kept for as long as you have an account.

10. Your choices and rights

  • You can use Zikrah without an account, and nothing is synced.
  • You can turn location access and notifications on or off in iOS Settings. Without location access, the app cannot work out prayer times or the Qibla direction from where you are.
  • You can leave a group at any time, and you can delete your account at any time.
  • You can turn off the Friday charity reminder in Notification settings.

Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights over your personal data, such as the right to ask for a copy of it, to have it corrected or to have it deleted. To make a request, or if you cannot use the in-app deletion option, contact us at azancast@gmail.com.

11. Children

Zikrah is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

12. This website

This website (zikrahapp.com) does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Like any website, the company that hosts it (Netlify) and the service that provides its fonts (Google Fonts) receive your IP address when your browser loads the pages.

Invite links of the form zikrahapp.com/join/CODE contain a group's invite code. The invite page reads that code in your browser to display it. It does not send it anywhere else.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change significantly affects how your data is handled, we will also tell you in the app.

14. Contact

For any question or request about this policy or your data, email azancast@gmail.com.
